Selinda Camp - Chobe National Park - Botswana

View Gallery View Photo Gallery

Selinda Camp, The Selinda Reserve, Botswana

Selinda Camp (recently re-built) is situated on the banks of the unique Selinda Spillway – which links the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando marshes, in the private Selinda Reserve. You will therefore be able to enjoy exclusivity, but with game viewing that is equal to that of the Chobe National Park itself.

The Camp is set in a shaded area, and is raised a metre off the ground – allowing you excellent views of the floodplains, waterways and savannas. Selinda is a small and intimate camp. Accommodation is in 9 spacious tents, under thatch – each equipped with extensive mosquito nets, ceiling fan, writing desk, and lounge area. You can also relax on your private veranda. Bathrooms are spacious, and en suite, complete with stone bath, and shower.

The main Camp area is also raised, and set under thatch – adding to your views of the extensive floodplains. There is a spacious lounge and dining area as well as a raised outdoor dining deck for evening meals under the stars. Your evening is rounded-off around a campfire, where you can reminisce about the day’s sightings.

The camp's plunge pool is surrounded by lush grass and is tucked away from the main area for privacy, an ideal way to cool off on a hot afternoon.

Game drives are conducted in open vehicles, which allow for increased visibility, and allow for excellent photographic opportunities. Game viewing has no fixed routine in the Selinda, but the best viewing times tend to be set by the wildlife itself – as there is more activity in the early morning and late afternoon. There are also elevated hides at the Camp, overlooking a waterway, which is an excellent way to see birdlife. You can also enjoy short guided walks from Camp, and you might also want to consider the longer Selinda Walking Trail if you enjoy exploring wildlife areas.

The area is known for its elephant and lion, wild dog, buffalo and giraffe. On a night drive there is the chance to see the more nocturnal species such as civet, serval, wild cats, honey badger, springhares, along with the elusive aardvark and aardwolf.
