Motswiri Ketumetse - Chobe National Park - Botswana

View Gallery View Photo Gallery

Motswiri Ketumetse is situated in the south west of the Selinda Reserve, and thus enjoys a different habitat, and therefore some different wildlife to the 2 camps to the east (Selinda and Zibadianja). Motswiri Ketumetse is in the area of a different water system – the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta.

It is set on the banks of the Selinda Spillway, making it in one of the most remote areas of Botswana. With accommodation for only 8 guests, this is an intimate camp, and is now only available for small private groups or families. The 4 custom designed Safari tents are luxurious, and the en suite outdoor bathrooms are accessed through the back of the tent. The tents have been placed at ground level, under shade giving leadwood trees, and there is a veranda from which you can look onto the Spillway and forests beyond.

The main camp area houses a comfortable, traditional 'mess' tent, where there is an intimate dining area and small lounge. In addition, there is an open-air bar and Boma campfire, which forms the central gathering point for pre-dinner drinks, or afternoon tea.

There are varied activities - game drives, walks, and seasonal canoeing (usually only from April to October, but this can vary slightly). The annual flooding brings attracts and abundance of birdlife, along with the numerous species of game which gather around the combined waters of the Delta and Spillway.

Game viewing is varied, common sightings of elephant and lion. Cheetah enjoy the northern floodplain, and the elusive leopard makes the most of the forested areas. You will have the chance to see some of the less common antelope species such as the sable and roan, and the majestic eland. Night drives allow you to see the nocturnally active species, and to gain a new insight into the bush.
