Ichingo Fishing Lodge, Chobe National Park
Situated on Impalila Island in the middle of the Chobe River,
Ichingo offers outstanding fishing in both The Chobe River
and The Zambezi as well as wildlife viewing in The Chobe National
Park.
Your journey to Ichingo Lodge commences with a short boat
ride from Kasane to the island of Impalila on the Namibian
side of the Chobe River.
After a welcome cocktail, you will
be shown your comfortable and well equipped walk-in 'meru'
style tent with twin beds and en-suite facilities. After
settling in, you will be driven to the friendly Immigration
Office to complete immigration formalities before starting
your activities.
Ichingo is first and foremost a fishing
lodge. It has excellent fishing facilities and tackle. The
main attraction are the Tiger fish, for which this area is
undoubtedly the premier Tiger fishing water in Africa.
The Tiger fish is one of the most
demanding freshwater fighting fishes in Africa. At Ichingo
you fish in the fast flowing waters of the Chobe and Zambezi,
which make the fish particularly active and more ferocious
than those found in the calmer waters of Lake Kariba for
example.
Fishing is by drift baiting and trawling,
with fly fishing during August, September and October and
spinning when the water levels are low and the tigers are
confined to the main river.
Bream fishing is excellent during July and August, fished
by both spinning and fly.
Game viewing in The Chobe National
Park on a small boat enables you to get very close to the
wildlife that congregates at the water's edge in all safety.
The Chobe National Park is famous for its huge herds of elephant
- there are over 45,000 in the Park! Other wildlife is seen
in large numbers, especially buffalo, zebra, antelope and
of course the predators that follow them!
Other activities at Ichingo include Mokoro excursions, cultural
visits to the local village and relaxing!
From Denise Powell
March 2005
The service and hospitality we received from Ichingo was far and above what we would have expected for this class of lodge. We had a wonderful time, and our guests both those from South Africa and the ones from the United Kingdom, were delighted with our stay and the friendliness and endless accomodations of our guides and rangers and hosts. The tent accomodation was excellent, clean and very well attended to. The reception areas the same. This lodge provides very very good value for money and while I will personally be recommending it to all my friends, it probably deserves additional exposure in whatever possible media you can contact.
I am a writer writing from home and would be more than willing to write this lodge up if you require for more press release. We had a great time.
Thank you and kind regards.
